Welcome to the awesome zombie survival game that is Day Z. A mod for the Arma 2 engine. Utilising the ‘Enfusion’ engine with David Durcak serving as project lead at Bohemia Interactive. Locale Taking place in Chernarus, a 225 km squared open world post soviet state. The area has been hit by a new and unknown infection. This has destroyed the modern world as we know it and now you need to search this modern wasteland in order to survive against the anarchy and infected. Go by yourself, with friends or against. Zombies This vicious breed of zombie have highly sensitive ears and noses but less keen eyes and with their beautifully motion captured animations you can watch one walk right up to your unconscious body and then start munching on your unprotected avatar. Weapons Use crossbows and recover bolts from fallen enemies. Ride around in custom vehicles and repair them when you are able. If you get shot, you bleed. Can't bandage it to stop blood loss? Well then you are going to fall unconscious. Get shot in the leg? Being able to walk is a privilege anyway not a right. Best get some morphine and harden up. Injured and in agony? I would strongly advise pain killers to stop those shakes. Objects There are lots of new objects ranging in size. Car parts to water canteens each with own models texture and UI imagery all created with high quality as the de-facto rather than as a target. Nothing rushed. Survival You'll need those water canteens as eating and drinking is an essential part of how this game plays. There is a very subtle GUI, atmosphere unaffected, which alerts you to your needs that if remained unfulfilled and ignored will result in your early demise. As long as you have the right tools you can kill and gut the wandering animals to have access to their meat and also as important to gain blood. Bases Build bases to keep your loot safe. Servers No need to worry about server crashes as DayZ server stats are saved to an external database so what you have when you log off will be there when you log on. The server code has been heavily optimised for a smoothly running world along with easily allowing thousands of zombies to be spawned at once. Want to find out more? Then you will have to survive. Day Z.
